Ardmore, PA (Sports Network) - The first round of the 113th U.S. Open resumed at 12:07 p.m. ET at Merion Golf Club on Thursday after a weather delay of 3 hours and 42 minutes.

The suspension was not a surprise as a line of strong storms was forecast Thursday morning. More severe weather is expected later in the day.

The second wave of players will have their tee times delayed 3 hours and 34 minutes. Sunset is slated for around 8:30 p.m. Play will continue as late as possible, if a later wave of storms stays clear of the area.

Tiger Woods and his playing partners are now scheduled for 4:48 p.m., with the final group slated for 6:31 p.m. off the 11th tee.

Ian Poulter birdied his first three holes from the 11th tee and had the lead at 3-under-par when play was suspended, but the Englishman found the high rough on the par-4 14th and tripped to a bogey after the restart. He is tied for second place with three others at 2-under.

Charl Schwartzel is alone in front at 3-under through six holes.
