Sweden edges Norway at Worlds

Minsk, Belarus (SportsNetwork.com) - Linus Klasen scored on a rebound seven minutes into the third period to lift Sweden to a 2-1 win over Norway at the 2014 World Hockey Championship.

Tuesday's win moved the unbeaten Swedes to the top of Group A in the preliminary round.

Steffen Soberg played well in defeat for Norway, making 33 saves. Sweden's Anders Nilsson faced only 14 shots.

Norway suffered its first loss in three games at this tournament.

Meanwhile, Juris Stals broke a tie with an early third-period goal and Latvia went on to beat winless Kazakhstan 5-4 in Group B action.

Arturs Kulda had two goals as Latvia picked up its second win through three games.

Earlier Tuesday, Finland and Denmark each won for the first time.

Pekka Rinne made 20 saves as the Finns posted a 4-0 Group B win over previously unbeaten Germany.

Denmark defeated Italy 4-1 to leave Slovakia as the only winless team in Group A.
