Leafs' Lupul suspended 2 games for illegal check

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Toronto Maple Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul has been suspended for two games by the NHL for an illegal check to the head of Tampa Bay defenseman Victor Hedman.

The incident occurred 45 seconds into the third period of Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Lightning.

Lupul, who was assessed a two-minute minor for delivering the hit, will forfeit $45,945.94.
