Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - The Carolina Hurricanes have lost another goaltender to injury, as Dan Ellis could be sidelined for about a week.

Ellis suffered a cut near his knee in the third period of Thursday's game against New Jersey. He was hurt during a goalmouth scramble and Justin Peters replaced him for the final 51 seconds.

According to the Raleigh News & Observer, Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford indicated that Ellis could be out 7-to-10 days.

The Hurricanes have already lost No. 1 goaltender Cam Ward to a knee injury that is expected to sideline him for the remainder of the regular season.

Ellis has a record of 4-5-1 with a 2.65 goals-against average and one shutout in 12 games this season.
