Recap: Minnesota vs. Los Angeles

St. Paul, MN (SportsNetwork.com) - Nino Niederreiter and Mikko Koivu each scored twice to power the Minnesota Wild to a 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday.

Chris Stewart collected two assists, Koivu added a helper and Devan Dubnyk made 31 saves in his 34th consecutive start for the Wild, who won their fifth straight game to climb over idle Chicago for third place in the Central Division with 95 points.

"We knew the challenge ahead of us going into the game. It was a tough 60 minutes all the way," said Koivu. "I thought we played a smart game that brought us the win."

Dwight King provided the lone goal for the Kings, who had their three-game winning streak come to an end. Jonathan Quick was pulled after 20 minutes of play after giving up two goals on nine shots and Martin Jones stopped 9-of-10 shots in relief.

"We were just a little bit slow in the first period," Jones said. "They're a good hockey team and we have to play a full 60 minutes against them."

Niederreiter opened the scoring 3:15 into the game after cutting in on net, taking a pass from Koivu and patiently backhanding a shot past Quick to finish off a strong Minnesota forecheck.

Koivu lifted a backhander over Quick's glove off the rush to increase the Wild's lead to 2-0 with 6:21 remaining in the first period.

In the middle stanza, King took a cross-ice feed from Jeff Carter and wristed a shot under Dubnyk's arm to cut the deficit in half just 3:20 into the middle stanza.

Niederreiter provided an insurance marker as he tipped in Jared Spurgeon's shot from along the right-wing boards with 3:03 remaining for a 3-1 game and a power-play goal.

Koivu provided a empty-net goal with 1:22 left to account for the final score.
