Recap: Winnipeg vs. Chicago
Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Saad's strike with 1:59 left in overtime lifted Chicago over Winnipeg, 2-1, at MTS Centre.
Patrick Kane added a goal and one assist for the Blackhawks, who beat their Central Division rivals for the first time in four meetings this season.
"We were looking for the win against a team we've had a hard time with all year," Chicago head coach Joel Quenneville said. "It's certainly nice to win. I thought it was a hard game."
Corey Crawford picked up the win thanks to 20 saves.
Mark Scheifele tallied for the Jets, who have lost six in a row but have claimed a point in their last two defeats. Michael Hutchinson made 20 stops in defeat.
"We played well for a full 60 minutes. We came out with good energy," said Hutchinson. "It was an exciting game to be a part of. It's unfortunate we just didn't get the win."
Kane did most of the work on Chicago's game winner, taking a Michal Rozsival pass up the middle, circling the net from left to right and slipping a pass between three Jets players to a waiting Saad for a shot inside the left post.
Scheifele put the hosts on the board just 4:17 into the contest on an uncontested shot in front after Mathieu Perreault worked the puck loose from the left-wing boards.
Kane tied the game at 2:50 of the second thanks to an electrifying break up the middle and successful backhander.Game Notes
