Recap: Buffalo vs. Toronto

Buffalo, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Zemgus Girgensons scored twice and the Buffalo Sabres cruised past the Toronto Maple Leafs, 6-2, on Saturday.

Matt Moulson and Tyler Ennis each had one goal and two assists for the Sabres, who snapped a five-game skid. Drew Stafford and Tyler Myers also lit the lamp.

"It was a huge character win for us," Myers said. "Any time they seemed to get a little bit of life, we answered right back pretty quick. It's something we have to try to make a habit moving forward."

Michal Neuvirth stopped 32-of-34 shots for Buffalo, which had allowed six goals in each of its last three games.

David Clarkson and Phil Kessel scored for the Maple Leafs, who have lost two in a row since a three-game winning streak. James Reimer made 29 saves.

"This wasn't our night," Reimer said.

Ennis scored on the power play at the 15:40 mark of the first period.

Girgensons tallied a shorthanded goal with 1:27 left. Brian Flynn beat Reimer to a loose puck in the faceoff circle and passed to Girgensons, who scored with the net open.

Stafford scored at 7:10 of the second to make it 3-0.

Clarkson got Toronto within two at 18:41 when he tipped Cody Franson's shot past Neuvirth.

Moulson scored 16 seconds later to make it 4-1. The Maple Leafs, however, got a goal from Kessel with 19 seconds left in the second.

Myers and Girgensons scored in the final frame.
