Recap: San Jose vs. Edmonton

San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Rob Klinkhammer scored in the 13th round of the shootout to give the Edmonton Oilers a 5-4 win over the San Jose Sharks.

After Viktor Fasth turned aside Matt Irwin's attempt, Klinkhammer flew in and buried a shot past Antti Niemi for the victory.

Jordan Eberle had two goals, Justin Schultz added a goal and an assist and Derek Roy also lit the lamp for the Oilers, who have won two of their last three. Fasth stopped 33 shots and turned away 12-of-13 attempts in the shootout.

"We stuck with it and got rewarded. There were a lot of solid efforts," Edmonton coach Todd Nelson said.

Joe Pavelski had two goals and an assist, while Scott Hannan and Matt Tennyson also scored for the Sharks, who had a three-game winning streak snapped. Joe Thornton added three assists and Niemi had 36 saves.

"They've got some skill on their team but we have to do better than that," said Pavelski. "We battled hard in the third and came back, but found ourselves on the short end."

Trailing by two goals at the start of the third, the Sharks quickly made it a one-goal game as Thornton threw it towards the net from the left side and Hannan was able to push it in for his first of the season at 2:19.

Just 90 seconds later, the Sharks tied the game at 3-3 as Tennyson's big slap shot from the high slot found the back of the net with a screen in front for his second of the season.

San Jose then took a 4-3 lead at 9:28 when Brent Burns sent a hard pass from the right point to the low left side where Pavelski caught it on the skated and shot it in.

Edmonton, though, tied the game with 2:37 to play as Schultz's wrister from the right circle went through a screen and between the pads of Niemi.

Pavelski got the Sharks on the board at 11:50 of the first period when he deflected a Patrick Marleau shot for a power-play goal.

Eberle, though, tied the game with a highlight reel goal as he took a pass at the left wing, stickhandled around Marleau then danced the puck to the backhand and lifted it in with 1:57 to play in the first.

The Oilers took a 2-1 lead just 22 seconds into the second period as Schultz threw a shot on net from the right wing and the rebound was kicked out to the left side where Eberle snapped it in for his second of the game.

Edmonton made it a 3-1 game near the midway mark of the second on Roy's slapper for his fifth of the season.
