Recap: Boston vs. Florida
Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Brad Marchand scored the winner with 1:33 to play in overtime to give the Boston Bruins a 2-1 win over the Florida Panthers on Tuesday.
Marchand took a pass from Dougie Hamilton and skated down the middle, making a move to get around Dylan Olsen before switching back to the forehand and wristing it into the left corner for his fifth goal of the season and the win.
Patrice Bergeron scored the other goal while Tuukka Rask stopped 18 shots for the Bruins, who have won their past three.
"I think tonight was a real big step forward for us," said Marchand. "We played with a lot more confidence than we have in the past number of games, and it seems like were able to make plays now and hold on."
Jussi Jokinen scored for the Panthers, who had won two straight coming in. Roberto Luongo stopped 23 shots in defeat.
"It was a hard-fought battle," said Luongo. "It's a tough building to play in. We battled hard again. We were very disciplined. We didn't take any penalties tonight, which was really good. It came down to overtime. Their guy made a hell of a play on the goal."
The other goals came in the second period as the Panthers got on the board thanks to a rush play that saw Jokinen finish it off with a wrister from the slot at 4:04.
Just over three minutes later, the Bruins tied the game when Marchand sent a touch pass from the left circle to the slot where Bergeron fired a turnaround shot on net that beat Luongo.Game Notes
