Flyers trade D Syvret to Rangers

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Flyers traded defenseman Danny Syvret to the New York Rangers in exchange for forward Kris Newbury on Monday.

The 28-year-old Syvret scored six goals and 34 assists in 76 games last season for the Flyers' AHL affilate, the Adirondack Phantoms. In 59 career NHL games with the Flyers, Oilers and Ducks, Syvret has tallied three goals and four assists.

Newbury appeared in 24 games for the Rangers over the past three seasons contributing two assists and 68 penalty minutes. The 31-year-old has spent 72 games in the NHL with the Rangers, Red Wings and Maple Leafs, and has recorded four goals and five assists with 132 penalty minutes.
