Frisco, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Dallas Stars have bought out the final year of defenseman Aaron Rome's contract.

Rome signed a three-year deal in the summer of 2012 and the Stars were able to use a compliance buyout as allowed by the NHL's collective bargaining agreement.

The 30-year-old veteran appeared in just 25 games for the Stars this past season and notched one assist. Injuries limited his action over two seasons, enabling him to play just 52 games, during which he posted six assists.

Rome has six goals and 22 assists for 28 points in 226 regular-season games with the Stars, Canucks, Blue Jackets and Ducks.
