New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Colorado Avalanche forward Cody McLeod has been suspended without pay for five games on Monday.

The discipline stems from his hit last week that resulted in Detroit defenseman Niklas Kronwall being removed from the ice on a stretcher.

McLeod was assessed a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct in last Thursday's game against the Red Wings. He served the first game of the ban on Saturday while awaiting an in-person hearing.
