Calgary, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Calgary Flames defenseman Mark Giordano will be out of action for 6-to-8 weeks with a broken ankle.

The team made the announcement on Tuesday, one of three injury updates.

Forward Lee Stempniak is considered week-to-week with a broken foot and defenseman Christopher Breen is day-to-day with an abdominal wall strain.

Giordano, who succeeded former franchise centerpiece Jarome Iginla as captain, has totaled two goals and seven assists in eight games this season, while Stempniak has posted four goals and five assists in 10 games.
