Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - Boston forward Chris Kelly is expected to play for the first time in nearly two months when the Bruins host the Florida Panthers Tuesday at TD Garden.
The Bruins activated Kelly, who has been sidelined since Dec. 7 with a broken right fibula, from injured reserve prior to the game. The 10-year veteran sustained the injury when slashed by Pittsburgh's Pascal Dupuis in a 3-2 win over the Penguins.
Prior to being sidelined, the defensive-minded center recorded three goals and four assists in 29 games this season.
Forward Ryan Spooner was assigned to Providence of the American Hockey League to make room on the active roster. The 21-year-old rookie posted 11 assists in 22 games with the Bruins this season.
