Mingo ruled out for Browns' season opener

Berea, OH (Sports Network) - Cleveland Browns rookie linebacker Barkevious Mingo will not play in Sunday's season opener against the Miami Dolphins.

The club made it official in their Friday injury report, a result of the bruised lung Mingo suffered in the preseason.

Mingo, the sixth overall pick in this year's draft, left an Aug. 15 exhibition game against the Detroit Lions with the injury. He was hospitalized for two days before being released.

Doctors consulted on the nature of the injury at the time stated that a recovery period is uncertain, taking from as little as two weeks to as long as two months.

In addition, offensive lineman Shawn Lauvao has been ruled out with an ankle injury after failing to practice all week.

Defensive lineman Ahtyba Rubin (calf) and defensive back Buster Skrine (shoulder) were listed as questionable.
