Cincinnati, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Geno Atkins will miss the remainder of the season because of a torn right ACL.

Atkins was hurt during the first half of Thursday's game against Miami. He was helped off the field and carted to the locker room.

Initial reports Thursday night indicated a torn ACL and Bengals coach Marvin Lewis confirmed the severity of the injury on Friday.

Atkins has six sacks and 20 tackles in nine games this season. He led all interior linemen last season with 12 1/2 sacks and was selected to his second Pro Bowl.

The 25-year-old Georgia product has 29 sacks in 57 games over four NFL seasons.
