Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tampa Bay Rays have lost Matt Moore for the season.

News came out late Monday that the starting pitcher has decided to have Tommy John surgery next week to repair a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow.

Moore left a start on April 7 at Kansas City because of discomfort in the elbow.

The 24-year-old amassed an outstanding 17-4 record with a 3.29 earned run average in 27 starts for the Rays last season.
