Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - The Toronto Blue Jays placed pitcher Sergio Santos on the 15-day disabled list Monday because of a right elbow strain.

The 30-year-old right-hander has gone 0-2 with five saves and a 9.00 ERA in 14 relief appearances this season, his third with the Blue Jays.

Santos opened the season as Toronto's closer due to Casey Janssen missing the first six weeks because of a back injury. Janssen, who had 34 saves for the Blue Jays last season, was activated from the disabled list on Sunday.

In other roster moves, Toronto optioned catcher Erik Kratz to Triple-A Buffalo and recalled infielder Jonathan Diaz and pitcher Chad Jenkins from Buffalo.
