Cleveland, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cleveland Indians have acquired outfielder Chris Dickerson from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for cash or a player to be named later.

Cleveland needed to add depth to the outfield with Michael Bourn expected to be out three to four weeks with a left hamstring injury.

In 65 games with Triple-A Indianapolis this season, Dickerson has batted .309 with 15 doubles and seven home runs. The 32-year-old has batted .262 with 15 home runs and 32 steals for his career in the majors.

To make room for the outfielder, the Indians have designated catcher George Kottaras for assignment. Since signing with the Tribe in April, Kottaras has gone 6-for-21 and hit three home runs in 10 games.
