Oakland, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics claimed infielder Andy Parrino off waivers from the Texas Rangers on Monday and optioned him to Triple-A Sacramento.
Parrino went to spring training with the A's, but was designated for assignment on Feb. 27 before being claimed off waivers by the Rangers on March 3.
Texas then optioned Parrino to Triple-A Round Rock, where he batted .189 with five runs batted in over 13 games before being designated for assignment on Friday.
The 28-year-old infielder appeared in 14 games for the A's last season and batted .118 with two doubles and one RBI.
Over parts of three seasons with San Diego and Oakland, Parrino has batted .186 with one home run and 11 RBI in 93 career games.
