Dodgers ink IF Turner on minor league deal

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Dodgers signed infielder Justin Turner to a minor league contract on Wednesday, with the agreement including an invitation to the team's spring training camp.

Turner joins the defending National League West champions off a solid season with the New York Mets, in which he batted .280 with two home runs and 16 RBI over 86 games while drawing starts at all four infield positions.

The veteran utilityman owns a .260 average with eight homers and 89 RBI over 318 career major league games, most of which were spent with the Mets. Turner broke into the big leagues with Baltimore in 2009.

A Southern California native, Turner played collegiately at Cal State- Fullerton prior to being drafted by Cincinnati in 2006.
