Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Detroit Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias reportedly is not expected to play at all this season as he continues to recover from stress fractures in both legs.

Iglesias learned of the diagnosis in March after he had been suffering from discomfort in his legs during spring training. The Tigers, at that time, expected him to be out for at least 4-to-6 months.

On Wednesday, Tigers president and general manager Dave Dombrowski told the Detroit News that he doesn't expect Iglesias to return this season.

"He is progressing as projected," Dombrowski told the paper. "But we do not think he will be ready at any point this season to play."

Iglesias hit .303 with three homers, 16 doubles and 29 RBI over 109 games with Boston and Detroit last season. In 46 games with the Tigers after a July 30 trade, he hit .259 with two homers and 10 RBI.
