Washington, DC (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Reds activated reliever Sean Marshall from the 15-day disabled list prior to Friday's game against the Washington Nationals.

To make room for Marshall, who had been sidelined since April 7 due to tendinitis in his throwing shoulder, the Reds placed fellow left-hander Manny Parra on the 15-day DL with a strained left pectoral muscle.

Marshall went 5-5 with a 2.51 earned run average and had nine saves over 73 games last season, his first with the Reds after being acquired in a trade with the Chicago Cubs, but made just one appearance this year before being temporarily shelved.

Parra, who signed a one-year contract with Cincinnati in February following a five-year stint with division-rival Milwaukee, has struggled in the early going. The 30-year-old had been tagged for seven runs (six earned) and 15 hits in just 6 2/3 innings spanning six appearances this season.
