Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Chicago White Sox slugger Jose Abreu was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday because of tendinitis in his left ankle.

Abreu is leading the majors with 15 home runs and is second with 41 runs batted in. He is also batting .260 in 44 games.

The 27-year-old Cuban first baseman was the top AL player and top AL rookie in April when he established rookie records through the first month with 10 homers, 32 RBI and 19 extra-base hits.

Chicago filled the roster spot by activating outfielder Adam Eaton off the disabled list. Eaton had been sidelined since early May with a strained right hamstring and was 2-for-6 in two games with Triple-A Charlotte as part of a rehab assignment.

Eaton, in his first season with the White Sox, entered Sunday's game against Houston hitting .276 with five doubles, a home run, 14 runs batted in and 20 runs scored in 25 games.
