The Diamondbacks said Hernandez has damage to the ulnar collateral ligament and will seek a second opinion before a decision on surgery is made.

Hernandez has spent the past three seasons with Arizona and last year was 5-6 with a 4.48 ERA in 62 games. He has a career mark of 24-30 with a 4.14 ERA and 19 saves in five big league seasons with the Diamondbacks and Baltimore Orioles.
