Carbondale, IL (Sports Network) - Junior running back Mika'il McCall has been dismissed from the Southern Illinois University football team for disciplinary reasons, coach Dale Lennon said Tuesday.

McCall, who transferred to SIU from Iowa after the 2011 season, was the team's top returning rusher this season. He had seven carries for a team-high 24 yards and a touchdown in a 42-34 loss at Illinois last Saturday.

"Due to team disciplinary policies, Mika'il has been dismissed from the team," Lennon said. "The focus of our team remains on our game preparation for Eastern Illinois" on Saturday at Salukis Stadium.

SIU (0-1), a Missouri Valley Football Conference member, has sufficient depth at running back with transfers Ken Malcome, Tay Willis and Malcolm Agnew, who missed last week's game at Illinois with a hamstring injury.
