San Marcos, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Matt Breida recorded 120 yards and two touchdowns on the ground as the Georgia Southern Eagles held on for a 28-25 win over the Texas State Bobcats in a Sun Belt Conference battle at Bobcat Stadium.

Breida rushed 11 times for GSU (8-2, 7-0 Sun Belt) as it picked up its seventh victory in a row, while Kevin Ellison compiled 62 yards on a team-high 17 carries. Ellison also completed 6-of-9 pass attempts for 41 yards. Matt Dobson anchored the Eagles' defensive unit with 12 total tackles and an interception return for a touchdown.

Tyler Jones finished with 302 yards, two touchdowns and a pair of interceptions while under center for the Bobcats (5-4, 3-2), who had won three of their last four games coming into Saturday. Terrence Franks paced TSU's rushing attack with 49 yards on 11 totes. Brandon Smith led all receiving with 97 yards on eight catches.

The only points of the first period came courtesy of a one-yard touchdown run by Breida.

TSU ended its drought at the 10:28 point of the second stanza, as Will Johnson converted a 39-yard field goal try. The Eagles took a 14-3 lead into the intermission thanks to a four-yard touchdown run by Alfred Ramsby with just over seven minutes left in the opening half.

Breida produced his second touchdown of the contest near the 10-minute mark of the third period, as he broke away for a 43-yard run across the goal line. The Bobcats responded with an 11-play, 58-yard scoring drive which was concluded by a 32-yard touchdown pass from Jones to Ryan Carden.

Jones made a costly mistake on the final play of the third quarter, as he was picked off by Dobson on the GSU goal line. Dobson managed to return the interception the length of the field to help the Eagles to a 28-10 lead with 15 minutes left to play.

TSU battled back late in the final period with a pair of touchdowns. Robert Lowe powered into the end zone from a yard out to end a 13-play, 87-yard drive in successful fashion before Jones completed a six-yard touchdown toss to Lawrence White with just over a minute remaining in regulation. After finding White for six points, Jones ran across the goal line on the ensuing two-point conversion attempt to narrow the Bobcats' deficit down to 28-25.

GSU recovered the ensuing on-sides kick by the Bobcats, and ran out the remaining 1:03 left on the game clock to seal the victory.

Despite the loss, TSU held a 439-268 edge in total yards of offense. The Bobcats also finished with a 26-9 advantage in first downs achieved.
