Recap: South Alabama vs. Georgia State

Mobile, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Bridge racked up 263 total yards and three touchdowns to lead the South Alabama Jaguars to a 30-27 triumph over the Georgia State Panthers in Sun Belt Conference action at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

Bridge completed just 11-of-32 passes for 126 yards but tossed two touchdowns and zero interceptions while adding 137 rushing yards and a score for South Alabama (4-2, 3-1 Sun Belt), which has won three straight.

For GSU (1-6, 0-4), Nick Arbuckle threw for 311 yards and three touchdowns on 23-of-40 passing. Donovan Harden (10 receptions, 132 yards, two TDs), Robert Davis (four receptions, 108 yards) and Joel Ruiz (seven receptions, 75 yards, TD) were all aided by Arbuckle's big night.

South Alabama opened the scoring less than six minutes in when Bridge ran in a touchdown from five yards out.

GSU tied the score less than two minutes later on a 44-yard scoring strike from Arbuckle to Harden.

The Jaguars went back ahead at the 3:17 mark of the first on a 43-yard field goal by Aleem Sunanon.

The only score of the second quarter came on a 1-yard touchdown pass from Arbuckle to Ruiz, as the Panthers carried a 14-10 lead into halftime.

South Alabama claimed a 17-14 lead early in the third quarter after Bridge tossed a 15-yard touchdown to Shavarez Smith, but the see saw continued two minutes later on another Arbuckle-to-Harden scoring connection, this time from five yards out.

The Jaguars made their deficit just one, 21-20, following a 28-yard field goal by Sunanon late in the third. They took the lead in the opening moments of the fourth quarter with yet another Sunanon field goal, this time from 43 yards out.

GSU went ahead, 27-23, after an 11-play, 76-yard drive was capped off by a 1- yard touchdown plunge by Duvall Smith. The two-point conversion attempt failed.

South Alabama regained the lead once against with 4:02 to play on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Bridge to Danny Woodson.

The Panthers advanced the ball to the South Alabama 40-yard line on their final drive but turned it over on downs.

South Alabama rushed for 321 yards while holding GSU to only 90 yards on the ground.
