Recap: Louisiana vs. Georgia State
Lafayette, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Terrance Broadway threw for 216 yards and two touchdowns as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns defeated the Georgia State Panthers, 34-31, in a Sun Belt conference matchup at Cajun Field.
Broadway completed 20-of-26 passes for the Ragin' Cajuns (2-3, 1-0 Sun Belt), while Jamal Robinson accounted for 119 yards and two scores on eight receptions. Elijah McGuire added 90 yards rushing and a touchdown on the ground.
As for the Panthers (1-4, 0-2), Nick Arbuckle threw for 276 yards on 19-of-27 passing. Marcus Caffey compiled 96 yards and three scores on 27 carries and Donovan Harden added 91 yards receiving in the loss.
McGuire scored on a 54-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter.
Duvall Smith capped off a 16-play, 91-yard drive for Georgia State with a one- yard touchdown run near the end of the period.
Caffey gave the Panthers a 14-7 lead on a 12-yard touchdown run with 5:08 left to play in the second quarter.
Broadway threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Jamal Robinson, tying the score at 14-14 with 1:13 left to play in the first half.
Wil Lutz kicked a 48-yard field goal as time expired in the first half to give the Panthers a 17-14 lead at the break.
Alonzo Harris gave the Ragin' Cajuns the lead (21-17) when he ran into the end zone from one yard out with 9:43 left to play in the third quarter.
With just over two minutes left in the frame, the Panthers regained the lead when Caffey scored on a one-yard touchdown run of his own.
The Ragin' Cajuns pulled ahead once again when Harris also ran in for a one- yard touchdown early in the final quarter.
Caffey capped off a 10-play, 75-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown run, putting the Panthers back up, 31-28.
Broadway answered back with a 21-yard touchdown pass to Robinson as the Ragin' Cajuns took the lead for good with 3:34 to play.
Louisiana outgained the opposition 461-425 in the game.Game Notes
