Recap: Georgia State vs. Arkansas State
Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Fredi Knighten accounted for more than 300 total yards and four touchdowns as the Arkansas State Red Wolves routed the Georgia State Panthers, 52-10, in a Sun Belt Conference bout at the Georgia Dome.
Knighten threw for 215 yards and three touchdowns on 20-of-26 passing and also had 93 yards and a score on the ground for Arkansas State (4-2, 2-0 Sun Belt). Michael Gordon added 188 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries for the Red Wolves.
Nick Arbuckle managed only 162 yards on 18-of-36 passing for Georgia State (1-5, 0-3).
The Red Wolves struck first when Knighten threw a seven-yard touchdown pass to Darion Griswold midway through the first quarter.
Luke Ferguson added to the lead with a 26-yard field goal.
The points kept on coming with a 50-yard touchdown run from Gordon and a two- yard touchdown pass from Knighten to Kenneth Rains before the first period was over.
Georgia State got its only score of the first half near the end of the second quarter on a 26-yard field goal from Wil Lutz.
However, the Red Wolves added a 13-yard touchdown run from Johnston White just before the break.
Arkansas State's lead expanded quickly in the second half with Knighten escaping for a 51-yard touchdown run less than three minutes after intermission.
Gordon then heaped on an 11-yard touchdown run to finish off a 93-yard drive.
The Red Wolves continued to pour it on in the fourth quarter with a two-yard touchdown pass from Knighten to Warren Leapheart.
The Panthers finally found the end zone on a two-yard touchdown run from Gerald Howse late in the fourth quarter.
Arkansas State owned an overwhelming 618-269 advantage in total yards. The Red Wolves scored on eight of their 13 possessions. The Panthers only scored on two of their own.Game Notes
