Recap: Eastern Mich vs. Toledo
Ypsilanti, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Logan Woodside threw for 323 yards and five touchdowns as the Toledo Rockets routed the Eastern Michigan Eagles, 52-16, in a Mid-American Conference contest at Rynearson Stadium.
Woodside only had to complete 14-of-18 pass attempts for Toledo (8-4, 7-1 MAC). Alonzo Russell hauled in two of those passes for 93 yards and a touchdown. Kareem Hunt rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown as well.
Reginald Bell had 119 yards and two touchdowns, but he also was intercepted twice, while only completing 8-of-23 pass attempts for Eastern Michigan (2-10, 1-7).
Toledo hit the ground running in the first quarter. Woodside threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Corey Jones and then connected with Justin Olack for a 22- yard scoring strike.
Woodside threw a third touchdown pass in the first quarter, hooking up with Kishon Wilcher for an 89-yard score.
The Eagles' first score of the game came on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Bell to Kris Strange, although the extra point attempt failed.
The Rockets posted three more touchdowns before halftime. Hunt ran into the end zone from a yard out, Damion Jones-Moore recorded a 28-yard touchdown run and Woodside threw a 59-yard touchdown pass to Russell.
The Eagles did get a 42-yard field goal from Dylan Mulder in the final seconds of the half, but they still faced a 42-9 deficit at the break.
Jeremiah Detmer increased Toledo's advantage with a 21-yard field goal midway through the third quarter.
Bell answered with a 34-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Brumfield.
The final score of the game came with 29 seconds to play in the third quarter, as Woodside threw his fifth touchdown pass on an 11-yard connection to Michael Roberts.
