Recap: Central Mich vs. Ohio U

Mount Pleasant, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Cooper Rush passed for 233 yards and two touchdowns, and Thomas Rawls had a blistering 234 rushing yards with two touchdowns as the Central Michigan Chippewas took down the Ohio Bobcats, 28-10, in Mid-American Conference play at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.

Rawls, who returned to action last weekend after an injury forced him to miss time, carried the ball 40 times in the win for Central Michigan (3-3, 1-1 MAC). Titus Davis caught a team-high 10 passes for 181 yards and a pair of scores for CMU.

J.D. Sprague completed 7-of-21 passing for 103 yards, and was sacked three times for Ohio (3-3, 1-1). Daz'mond Patterson led the team in rushing with 82 yards on 12 carries, and Chase Cochran caught two passes for 59 yards in the loss.

Central Michigan went up 14-0 on Ohio in the first quarter thanks to two Rush touchdown passes to Davis. Rush hit Davis on a four-yard pass completion with 10:21 to play in the period to go up 7-0, and then later found Davis again on a 32-yard scoring completion with 5:55 left.

Josiah Yazdani put the Bobcats on the board with 13 seconds remaining in the first half when he connected on a 24-yard field goal try, which cut Central Michigan's lead to 14-3.

Rawls got the scoring started in the second half, taking a handoff 15 yards for the touchdown with 7:34 left in the third period. The Chippewas held a comfortable 21-3 lead after the score.

Finally the Bobcats found the end zone with 12:40 left to play in the game. Tim Edmonds took a handoff one yard to the house, cutting CMU's lead to 21-10.

Rawls punched in his second rushing score of the game, this time from a yard out, with 8:44 left to play to give Central Michigan the 28-10 lead, which would be the final score.

Central Michigan held a 239-94 lead in rushing yards, and outgained the Bobcats in the contest in total offensive yards, 472-197. The Chippewas also had a decisive edge in time of possession, 42:19 to 17:41.
