Recap: Miami-Ohio vs. Western Mich
Oxford, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Jarvion Franklin rushed for 182 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Western Michigan Broncos to a 41-10 blowout victory over the Miami-Ohio RedHawks in Mid-American Conference action at Yager Stadium.
Franklin, who came into the day the nation's fifth-leading rusher, did his damage on 29 carries and now has at least 149 rushing yards in seven of nine games this season for WMU (6-3, 4-1 MAC), which has won four in a row to earn bowl eligibility. Zach Terrell completed 18-of-23 passes for 217 yards with a touchdown to Corey Davis (seven receptions, 114 yards).
For Miami (2-8, 2-4), Andrew Hendrix was just 7-of-19 passing for 96 yards, a touchdown and an interception before being pulled late for Drew Kummer (4- of-10, 53 yards, interception).
WMU opened up the scoring midway through the first quarter on a 55-yard touchdown run by Franklin.
Franklin added another rushing score, a 4-yarder, early in the second quarter to finish off a 14-play, 80-yard drive.
The Broncos made it 21-0 with 9:14 to play before halftime on a 5-yard touchdown run by Terrell.
Miami got on the board a minute later after a 74-yard kickoff return by Fred McRae set up a 19-yard touchdown pass from Hendrix to Dawan Scott.
Kaleb Patterson made good on a 52-yard field goal for the RedHawks with under two minutes to play in the half, but the Broncos responded just before intermission with a 23-yard field goal by Andrew Haldeman.
WMU extended its lead to three touchdowns five minutes into the third quarter following a 5-yard touchdown from Terrell to Corey Davis. Franklin's big day continued later in the frame with a 5-yard touchdown rush.
Haldeman kicked a 27-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter to put an end to the scoring.
WMU held a commanding advantage in total offense, 499-236. It also had more than 34 minutes of possession time and converted 8-of-11 third downs.Game Notes
