The Rockets responded with a 75-yard trek down the field that ended when Wilcher caught a short score from two yards out. Strock's huge 65-yard carry set up Calhoun's 4-yard TD grab for a 30-14 score heading into the fourth quarter.

Pierce hauled in a 3-yard score two minutes into the final stanza to get Kent State within 10 points, but Strock's fumble and late interception sealed the outcome.
