Recap: Ohio U vs. Buffalo

Athens, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - A.J. Ouellette rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries as the Ohio Bobcats beat the Buffalo Bulls 37-14 on Wednesday night.

Derrius Vick had 118 yards on 7-of-18 passing and scored a touchdown on the ground for Ohio, which reached .500 behind a strong defensive performance.

The Bobcats (5-5, 3-3 MAC) limited the Bulls to seven first downs and 134 total yards of offense.

Joe Licata completed only 9-of-20 passes for 74 yards with an interception, but he did throw his 52nd career touchdown pass, matching Drew Willy for the Buffalo school record.

The Bulls (3-6, 1-4) suffered their fourth straight loss.

The Bobcats got the ball to begin the game and moved deep into Buffalo territory on Chase Cochran's 47-yard reception. Josiah Yazdani kicked a 33- yard field goal after the drive stalled inside the red zone.

Ohio went three-and-out on its second possession, but recovered a muffed punt. The Bobcats capitalized on the turnover as Ouellette ran for a 2-yard touchdown.

The Bulls, looking to respond, were in Ohio territory to open the second quarter. The drive didn't result in any points as Patrick Clarke missed a 36- yard field goal attempt wide right.

Ouellette then scored on another short run to put the Bobcats up 17-0, the same lead with which they entered halftime.

Two miscues put Buffalo in an even bigger hole.

The Bulls botched a snap on a punt after going three-and-out to start the third quarter, giving the Bobcats the ball inside the 20-yard line. Ohio was held to a 28-yard Yazdani field goal.

Buffalo's Anthone Taylor fumbled on the next play from scrimmage, and Vick's 9-yard keeper put Ohio up 27-0 with 3:03 gone in the second half.

Vick fumbled later in the third, leading to a 12-yard TD pass from Licata to Ron Willoughby.

Ohio extended its advantage to 37-7 in the fourth quarter on a Yazdani 19-yard field goal and 3-yard TD run by Dorian Brown.

Boise Ross returned a Tim Edmond fumble 75 yards for a late Buffalo touchdown.
