Recap: Nevada vs. San Diego St

Reno, NV (SportsNetwork.com) - Don Jackson and James Butler both ran for more than 100 yards and a touchdown as the Nevada Wolf Pack pulled away from the San Diego State Aztecs, 30-14, in Mountain West Conference action at Mackay Stadium.

Jackson posted a game-high 124 yards on 20 carries and Butler another 103 yards on 15 attempts for the Pack (6-4, 3-2 MWC) as they captured their third win in a row and the fourth in five tries. Quarterback Cody Fajardo connected on 10-of-24 for 109 yards and a score.

The Aztecs (4-4, 3-2) were led by Quinn Kaehler who hit on 21-of-36 through the air for 189 yards and a score, but he was sacked four times and tossed an interception as the team had a two-game win streak snapped.

It wasn't until late in the first quarter that San Diego State finally broke through on the scoreboard as Chase Price crossed the goal line from a yard out.

Barely two minutes later the Pack cut into the lead as Brent Zuzo knocked through a 37-yard field goal to make the score 7-3.

Nevada assumed the lead less than a minute into the second frame as Fajardo hit Richy Turner with a 20-yard TD pass. Zuzo added a 25-yard field goal later in the quarter, but in between Kaehler's 21-yard TD pass to Jemond Hazely provided the visitors with a 14-13 edge at the break.

Zuzo was brought on for field goals of 25 and 24 yards in the third and four quarters, respectively, moving Nevada back in front. The hosts gave themselves some breathing room when James Butler stretched the ball over the goal line to cap a 43-yard rumble and give the Pack a 23-14 edge with 7:06 remaining.

With under two minutes left, Nevada continued to pile on as Jackson posted a one-yard TD run to make the score 30-14 and move the Pack into a tie with SDSU for first place in the West Division of the MWC.

SDSU turned the ball over three times and converted just 4-of-13 on third down on the night.
