Recap: San Jose St vs. Nevada
San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Cody Fajardo rushed for two touchdowns to lead the Nevada Wolf Pack to a 21-10 victory over the San Jose State Spartans in Mountain West Conference action at Spartan Stadium.
Fajardo rushed for 64 yards on 13 attempts and threw for 64 yards on 10-of-18 passing for Nevada (3-1, 1-0 MWC). Don Jackson added to the Wolf Pack's impressive rushing attack with 106 yards on 12 carries.
For SJSU (1-3, 0-1), Jon Gray threw for 276 yards on 32-of-46 passing with two interceptions. Tyler Winston had a game-high eight catches for 49 yards, and Billy Freeman finished with six receptions for 76 yards.
The game remained scoreless until the 12:09 mark of the second quarter, when Fajardo rushed in a 14-yard touchdown.
SJSU chipped into its deficit in the waning seconds of the half with a 32-yard field goal by Austin Lopez.
The Spartans took a 10-7 lead early in the third quarter on a 24-yard touchdown run by Tim Crawley.
The Wolf Pack regained the lead early in the fourth quarter, as they capped off an eight-play, 70-yard drive with a 2-yard touchdown run by Fajardo. They added to their advantage less than four minutes later when Nigel Haikins picked off a Gray pass and returned it 27 yards for a score to put the game away.
The Spartans owned nearly a 13-minute advantage in the time-of-possession battle but were ultimately done in by committing three turnovers. Nevada, meanwhile, took care of the ball with zero giveaways.Game Notes
