Recap: San Diego St vs. Hawaii

San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Donnel Pumphrey rushed for 182 yards and a touchdown, as the San Diego State Aztecs downed the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, 20-10, in a Mountain West Conference bout at Qualcomm Stadium.

Pumphrey did his damage on 25 carries for SDSU (4-3, 3-1 MWC) while crossing the century mark rushing for the fifth time this season. Quinn Kaehler completed 13-of-24 passes for 174 yards and a touchdown in the triumph.

For Hawaii (2-5. 1-1), Ikaika Woolsey threw for 174 yards, a touchdown and two picks on 17-of-31 passing, with his lone score going to Marcus Kemp (five receptions, 68 yards).

On the opening possession of the game, SDSU capped off a 10-play, 86-yard drive with a 10-yard touchdown run by Pumphrey. Donny Hageman added a 36-yard field goal for the Aztecs before the first quarter was out to make it 10-0.

Action remained quiet until Hawaii orchestrated an impressive two-minute drill at the end of the half, with a Woolsey touchdown pass to Kemp from 39 yards away with just five seconds left making it 10-7 heading into intermission.

The Aztecs extended their advantage with 5:32 remaining in the third quarter when Kaehler hooked up with Lloyd Mills for a 26-yard scoring strike.

The Rainbow Warriors brought their deficit back to seven late in the third quarter following a 25-yard field goal by Tyler Hadden.

Hageman made it a two-possession game with 6:33 to play following a 23-yard field goal.

Hawaii turned the ball over on its final two possessions.

SDSU outgained Hawaii, 457-264, and had more than 36 minutes of possession time.
