Recap: Colorado State vs. Tulsa

Fort Collins, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Rashard Higgins caught four touchdown passes and tallied 178 yards to help the Colorado State Rams take down the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, 42-17, at Hughes Stadium in a non-conference matchup.

Garrett Grayson completed 12-of-18 pass attempts for the Rams (4-1) for 236 yards and three touchdowns and an interception. Dee Hart rushed for 143 yards on 11 carries and found the end zone twice.

Dane Evans threw for 222 yards and a touchdown on 16-of-29 passing for the Tulsa (1-4), but he was intercepted twice and sacked five times. Keevan Lucas caught seven passes for 101 yards and a touchdown.

Hart got the Rams on the board first with a 14-yard touchdown run a couple of minutes into the contest.

Just over five minutes later, Colorado State doubled its lead on a 28-yard touchdown pass from Grayson to Higgins.

Grayson and Higgins hooked up for two more touchdowns in the second quarter, the first on 31-yard pass and the second on a 73-yard pass, extending the lead to 28-0.

Just before the end of the half, Evans got the Golden Hurricane on the board with a one-yard rushing score.

Hart ran 13 yards for his second touchdown to open the second half scoring, extending the Rams' lead to 35-7.

Tulsa tacked on a field goal at the end of the third quarter with Carl Salazar converting from 25 yards out, making it 35-10.

Making a bid for a late comeback, Lucas caught a 62-yard touchdown pass from Evans, cutting the Tulsa lead to 35-17 at the start of the fourth quarter.

With five minutes left, Higgins caught his fourth touchdown of the day, this one a 36-yard pass from Nick Stevens. It was the final scoring play of the day.

Despite possessing the ball almost 10 minutes more than Colorado State, Tulsa still allowed 532 total yards of offense to the Rams. Colorado State had the 234-127 advantage in rushing yards in the contest.
