Recap: Air Force vs. Boise State
USAFA, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Kale Pearson rushed for a career-high 127 yards and accounted for two touchdowns as the Air Force Falcons knocked off the Boise State Broncos, 28-14, in a Mountain West Conference contest at Falcon Stadium.
Pearson ran the ball 20 times and also threw for 48 yards on 5-of-11 passing for Air Force (3-1, 1-1 MWC). Jacobi Owens contributed 108 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries.
Grant Hedrick threw for 209 yards and was picked off four times for Boise State (3-2, 1-1). He was replaced by Ryan Finley near the end of the third quarter. Finley completed 12-of-25 pass attempts for 161 yards and two scores, although he was also guilty of an interception.
The home team was the first to score as Pearson connected with Garrett Brown on a four-yard touchdown pass midway through the first quarter.
Air Force doubled its lead midway through the second period on a five-yard touchdown run from Pearson.
A 25-yard field goal from Will Conant as time expired in the first half allowed the Falcons to carry a 17-0 lead into the locker room.
Conant hit on his second field goal of the game, this one from 21 yards out, to help Air Force inch even further ahead late in the third quarter.
Owens scored on a 10-yard touchdown run and the Falcons added a successful two-point conversion as they continued to pile on early in the fourth quarter.
Boise State finally got on the scoreboard with a two-yard touchdown pass from Finley to Alec Dhaenens, capping a 69-yard drive that took just 1:33 off the clock.
Finley then threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Shane Williams-Rhodes with 6:21 remaining, but the Broncos were unable to pull any closer.
Air Force forced seven turnovers in the win, the first time it has done that since 1992.Game Notes
