Recap: Rice vs. North Texas

Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Jowan Davis ran for 55 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Rice Owls knock off the North Texas Mean Green, 41-21, in a Conference USA matchup at Rice Stadium.

Driphus Jackson completed 13-of-26 pass attempts for 233 yards and a touchdown for the Owls (4-3, 2-1 C-USA), who have won four straight. Jordan Taylor caught four passes for 137 yards and a touchdown. Darik Dillard rushed for 80 yards and a score.

Andrew McNulty threw for 153 yards and a touchdown on 15-of-33 passing for the Mean Green (2-6, 0-4), who have dropped four games in a row. Carlos Harris caught three passes for 65 yards and a touchdown and also ran for a TD.

In the first plat from scrimmage, Jackson uncorked an 88-yard touchdown pass to Taylor, as the Owls struck first.

Several minutes later, the Mean Green responded, as McNulty found Harris with a 51-yard touchdown pass, making it 7-7.

Rice took the lead before the end of the first quarter when Davis ran it into the end zone from 10 yards out. North Texas' Darvin Kidsy, however, returned the ensuing kickoff all 100 yards to tie the game up at 14.

Midway through the second quarter, Harris crossed the goal line from a yard out to give the Mean Green their first lead, 21-14, but from there the game belonged to the hosts.

Early in the third quarter, James Farrimond converted a 27-yard field goal for Rice. About two minute later, Ryan Pollard returned an interception 60 yards for the touchdown, giving the Owls back the lead, 24-21.

A minute into the fourth quarter, the Owls extended the lead on Dillard's one- yard touchdown run, making it 31-21. Midway through the quarter, Farrimond converted from 23 yards. With a minute left, Davis ran four yards for another score to cap off the decisive victory.

The Rice offense put together 421 total yards to just 216 on the North Texas side.
