Two more field goals from Moore in the third quarter further extended North Texas' lead. The first came from 42 yards out and the second was a 47-yarder.

The Mean Green kept piling on in the fourth quarter with Jimmerson scoring on an eight-yard touchdown run and Evans escaping for a 53-yard touchdown run.

A 33-yard touchdown pass from Cassel to Halverson on the last play of the game accounted for SMU's entire scoring output.
