Recap: Louisiana Tech vs. TX-San Antonio
Ruston, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kenneth Dixon rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown on a game-high 28 carries, helping the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs knock off the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners, 27-20, in a Conference-USA matchup at Joe Aillet Stadium.
Cody Sokol only completed 14-of-31 pass attempts for 157 yards and a touchdown, as well as an interception, for the Bulldogs (4-3, 3-0 C-USA), but it was enough to push their winning streak to two games. Sterling Griffin was a top target, recording six catches for 70 yards and a touchdown.
Austin Robinson threw for 138 yards and was intercepted twice on 18-of-29 passing for the Roadrunners (2-5, 1-2), who have lost five of their last six contests.
Midway through the opening quarter, Sean Ianno put the Roadrunners on the scoreboard with a 23-yard field goal.
Jonathan Barnes evened the score early in the second quarter, hitting a 21- yard field goal for the Bulldogs.
With just under four minutes left in the half, Robinson scrambled 53 yards for a Roadrunners touchdown, making it 10-3.
As time expired in the first half, Barnes converted a 33-yard field goal to bring the Bulldogs a little closer.
In the third quarter, the Bulldogs turned the tide, as Terrell Pinson recovered a fumble and returned it two yards for a touchdown. A few minutes later, Sokol found Griffin for a 19-yard touchdown pass, which was followed by a three-yard touchdown run from Griffin.
In the first minute of the fourth quarter, the Roadrunners got back on the scoreboard as Ianno split the uprights from 27 yards out. A few minutes later, receiver Kam Jones completed a 35-yard pass to Kenny Harrison for a touchdown, cutting the deficit to 27-20, but that would the be the game's final scoring play.
Despite having more total offensive yards, 324 to their opponent's 278, the Roadrunners were just 4-of-16 on third-down conversion tries.Game Notes
