Recap: Washington vs. Georgia State
Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Cyler Miles threw for 154 yards and three touchdowns, while Jeff Lindquist added two touchdowns on the ground, as the Washington Huskies knocked off the Georgia State Panthers, 45-14, in a non- conference battle at Husky Stadium.
Miles completed 19-of-27 pass attempts for the Huskies (4-0). Jaydon Mickens caught eight passes for 56 yards and one touchdown, while Dwayne Washington chipped in with 56 yards rushing in the win.
As for the Panthers (1-3), Nick Arbuckle threw for 194 yards two touchdowns, but also tossed three interceptions and was sacked four times. Donovan Harden caught seven passes for 64 yards in the loss.
After a scoreless first quarter, Arbuckle capped off a six-play, 52-yard drive when he threw a two-yard touchdown pass to Keith Rucker early in the second frame to give the Panthers a 7-0 lead.
Arbuckle connected with Robert Davis from nine yards out to boost the advantage to 14-0, which is where the score remained at the half.
The second half belonged to the Huskies as they rattled off 45 unanswered points, beginning with a nine-yard TD run by Lindquist, cutting into the deficit to 14-7 with 11:35 left to play in the third quarter.
Washington tied the game when Miles connected with Kendyl Taylor on a 10- yard touchdown pass and took the lead when Kasen Williams caught a three-yard TD from Miles late in the third.
The lead was pushed to 35-14, when Miles threw a nine-yard touchdown pass to Mickens and Lindquist reached the end zone from 14 yards out.
Moments later, John Timu picked off an Arbuckle pass and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown with 8:12 left in the game.
Cameron Van Winkle made the score 45-14 when he connected on a 25-yard field goal.
The Husky defense held GSU to just 68 rushing yards on 41 carries for a dismal 1.7 yards per attempt.Game Notes
