Recap: California vs. Stanford

Berkeley, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Remound Wright rushed for 92 yards and scored four touchdowns on the ground as his Stanford Cardinal cruised past the California Golden Bears, 38-17, in a Pac-12 Conference clash at Memorial Stadium.

Kevin Hogan completed 15-of-20 pass attempts for 214 yards and an interception, and added a rushing touchdown of his own for Stanford (6-5, 4-4 Pac-12), which ended a two-game losing skid with the victory.

Jared Goff completed 16-of-31 passing for 182 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions for Cal (5-6, 3-6), which has dropped two in a row and five of its last six. Daniel Lasco carried the ball 18 times for 103 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

Wright got the scoring started with a one-yard touchdown run with 12:38 to play in the first quarter for the 7-0 Stanford lead. Then Jordan Williamson booted a 24-yard field goal to give the Cardinal the 10-0 lead with 6:26 remaining in the first.

Goff found Stephen Anderson on a 10-yard touchdown strike 34 seconds into the second quarter to put Cal down by a field goal, 10-7.

But the Cardinal took over from that point. Wright scored on a five-yard touchdown run with 7:59 to play in the half, and then Hogan plunged into the end zone from five yards out with 1:22 to play in the frame for the 24-7 Stanford advantage.

Wright scored again on a run, this time from two yards out, with 9:16 to play in the third quarter to give Stanford the 31-7 lead.

James Langford converted a 38-yard field goal for the Golden Bears with 1:21 to play in the third to cut the lead to 31-10 in favor of Stanford.

Wright scored his fourth rushing touchdown with 7:36 to play in the game, this time carrying the ball in from five yards out, to give the Cardinal a 38-10 advantage.

Lasco took a handoff for Cal and scored from 12 yards out with 2:40 to play in the game to cut the Cardinal lead to 38-17. That is how the scoring ended.

Stanford gained 204 yards on the ground, and forced five Golden Bears turnovers en route to the lopsided victory.
