Recap: Oklahoma State vs. TX-San Antonio
Stillwater, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - Daxx Garman threw for 315 yards and a two touchdowns to lead the Oklahoma State Cowboys to a 43-13 victory over the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners at Boone Pickens Stadium.
Garman only completed 16-of-30 pass attempts and was also sacked four times for Oklahoma State (2-1). Desmond Roland picked up 95 yards and two scores on the ground. Marcell Ateman (four receptions, 70 yards) and Jhajuan Seales (two receptions, 75 yards) were the most productive receivers in the win.
Tucker Carter started under center for UTSA (1-2), but left the game at halftime. He threw for 51 yards on 7-of-15 passing. Blake Bogenschutz took his place and threw for 82 yards and an interception on 15-of-29 passing.
A 24-yard field goal from Sean Ianno got UTSA off to a 3-0 lead early in the first quarter.
In response the Cowboys struck for a pair of touchdowns in the frame, with a one-yard touchdown run from Roland and a 33-yard touchdown pass from Garman to James Washington.
Garman threw his second touchdown pass of the game with 2:27 left before halftime, hooking up with Brandon Sheperd from 18 yards out.
Ben Grogan kicked a 47-yard field goal just before intermission to give the Cowboys a 24-3 lead at the break.
Grogan added a 24-yard field goal to finish off a 10-play, 68-yard drive early in the third quarter.
The Roadrunners finally showed some life midway through the third quarter when Bogenschutz scored on a 24-yard touchdown run.
Then Ianno connected on a 38-yard field goal.
However, the Cowboys were not finished scoring themselves. Roland scored on a one-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter, Grogan chipped in a 20-yard field goal and Ashton Lampkin returned an interception 50 yards for a touchdown on the final play of the game.
UTSA had only 73 yards rushing on 35 carries. Oklahoma State had a 477-206 advantage in total yards.Game Notes
