Recap: Army vs. Rice

West Point, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Driphus Jackson completed 15-of-21 passes for 209 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Rice Owls to a 41-21 road win over Army at Michie Stadium.

Darik Dillard notched a rushing touchdown along with a receiving score to help lift the reigning Conference USA champion Owls (3-3) to their third straight win after starting the season 0-3.

The Black Knights (2-4) lost at home for the first time this year, despite 106 rushing yards and two total touchdowns (one rushing, one passing) from quarterback Angel Santiago.

Rice marched right down the field on the game's opening possession, and Brandon Hamilton finished it off with a 2-yard touchdown run.

Army tied the score at 7-7 on Larry Dixon's 2-yard run late in the first quarter.

The Owls began to gain some separation in the second quarter. Dillard scored on a 15-yard scamper, James Farrimond made a 23-yard field goal, and Jackson tossed a 5-yard touchdown pass to Mario Hull to make it a 24-7 game with 2:18 to play in the half.

However, Army answered with a nine-play, 75-yard drive, which ended with a 7- yard touchdown pass from Santiago to Xavier Moss with 10 seconds left on the game clock.

Santiago lost a fumble on the opening possession of the second half. Jackson capitalized on the very next play from scrimmage with a 41-yard scoring strike to Jordan Taylor to extend the Owls' lead to 31-14.

But Santiago responded with a 24-yard TD scamper on the next possession to keep the Black Knights hanging around, 31-21.

Once again, Jackson had an answer, as he tossed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Dillard to put the Owls back on top by 17 with 3:47 remaining in the third quarter. Farrimond tacked on a 24-yard field goal in the fourth quarter for the final margin.

Army managed to win despite losing a pair of fumbles in addition to being out- gained by Rice, 391-341.
