Recap: Kentucky vs. So Carolina

Lexington, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Jojo Kemp ran for 131 yards and three touchdowns as the Kentucky Wildcats rallied past the South Carolina Gamecocks for a 45-38 victory in SEC action at Commonwealth Stadium.

Patrick Towles threw for 208 yards and a touchdown on 20-of-29 passing and Ryan Timmons tallied 61 yards and a score on five receptions for Kentucky (4-1, 2-1 SEC).

Dylan Thompson may have finished with 218 yards and a touchdown on 23-of-37 passing but he was also intercepted three times for South Carolina (3-3, 2-3). Mike Davis racked up 183 yards and three scores on the ground and Pharoh Cooper caught six balls for 83 yards and a touchdown.

Davis scored on a one-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter and on a two-yard touchdown run in the first minute of the second, as the Gamecocks opened up a 14-0 lead.

Kentucky responded with a three-yard touchdown run from Kemp , cutting its deficit in half.

Elliott Fry kicked a 31-yard field goal later in the period, but just over a minute later Braylon Heard escaped for a 38-yard touchdown run cutting further into the Gamecocks' advantage.

The Wildcats were able to enter the half tied with the Gamecocks thanks to a 47-yard field goal from Austin MacGinnis as time expired in the second quarter.

A 48-yard touchdown pass from Towles to Timmons gave Kentucky the lead early in the third quarter.

Shon Carson's 25-yard touchdown run on the next drive brought things back to even.

The Gamecocks then pulled back ahead with 1:48 left in the third quarter on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Thompson to Cooper.

Davis gave the Gamecocks a two-touchdown lead with a 26-yard rushing score early in the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats were far from finished, however, as Kemp added touchdown runs of one yard and five yards, respectively.

Then, with 2:29 to play, Alvin Dupree returned an interception six yards for a touchdown, putting Kentucky back in front for good.

South Carolina lost despite a 500-447 advantage in total yards and a 32-22 edge in first downs.
