Recap: Buffalo vs. Eastern Mich
Buffalo, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Branden Oliver rushed for a season-high 150 yards and two touchdowns as the Buffalo Bulls made easy work of the Eastern Michigan Eagles, 42-14, in Mid-American Conference action at UB Stadium.
Oliver did his damage on 25 carries while also adding three receptions for 32 yards for Buffalo (3-2, 1-0 MAC), which has won three straight since starting the campaign 0-2. Joe Licata completed 15-of-22 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns (one rushing). Alex Neutz finished with four receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown, giving him a receiving score in every game this season. Devin Campbell accounted for two touchdowns (one rushing, one kick return) and racked up 160 all-purpose yards.
For EMU (1-4, 0-2), Tyler Benz was 12-of-19 passing for 157 yards with a touchdown and an interception before being replaced by Brogan Roback (4-of-8, 25 yards, INT). Ryan Brumfield led the squad with 79 rushing yards on only two carries.
Buffalo made a statement early by running off the first 21 points of the game. Oliver rushed for a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter, one being a 60- yarder and the other coming from two yards out. Licata added another rushing score midway through the second quarter, a one-yard plunge.
EMU finally halted the Bulls' run with 4:39 remaining the first half when Benz hooked up with Jay Jones for a 15-yard scoring strike. Buffalo wasted no time retaliating, however, as Campbell returned the ensuing kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown.
The Bulls continued their dominance in the third quarter when Campbell finished off an 11-play drive with a one-yard touchdown run. Licata added his only touchdown pass later in the frame, a 27-yard completion to Neutz.
Although the game was already well out of reach, Brumfield ripped off a 75- yard touchdown rush with 1:29 remaining to give the Eagles a positive note to end on.
Buffalo converted 7-of-13 third down attempts and outgained EMU in total yardage, 452-329.Game Notes
