Recap: ULM vs. Tulane
Monroe, LA (Sports Network) - Orleans Darkwa had a season-high 118 rushing yards and a touchdown as the Tulane Green Wave took down the ULM Warhawks, 31-14, in non-conference action at Malone Stadium.
Darkwa carried the ball 17 times for Tulane (3-2) as he crossed the century mark rushing for the eighth time in his career. Rob Kelley was also effective on the ground with 76 yards and a score on 16 attempts. Nick Montana underwhelmed under center, completing just 7-of-20 passes for 65 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
For ULM (2-3), Kolton Browning was ineffective with just 134 yards on 12-of-27 passing before being relieved for Brayle Brown (10-of-18, 133 yards, TD, two INTs). Ajalen Holley led all receivers with 53 yards and a score. The Warhawks, who have lost back-to-back games, rushed for only 26 yards as a team.
Tulane got on the board first midway through the opening quarter after Cairo Santos drilled a 56-yard field goal. The kicker is no stranger to long field goals, as he set a school record last season when he made a 57-yarder against Rice.
The Green Wave made it 10-0 late in the second quarter on a seven-yard touchdown run by Kelley.
Tulane extended its lead to 24-0 early in the third quarter. First, Darkwa rushed in a one-yard touchdown, then Dominique Robertson recovered a fumble and returned it 33 yards for a score.
The Warhawks ended their scoreless drought midway through the third quarter when Rashon Ceaser ran back a punt 88 yards for a touchdown, but the Green Wave responded just a few minutes later with a 26-yard touchdown pass from Montana to Ryan Grant.
ULM added a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter when Brown hooked up with Holley for a 25-yard score, although the game was well in hand by that point.
The Tulane defense sacked ULM quarterbacks five times and recorded five turnovers.Game Notes
